Drilling Engineering & Well Planning

The well gets drilled on paper first. We build the drilling program end to end — trajectory, casing and cement, BHA, hydraulics, torque and drag — and stress-test it against the formation and the rig before anyone mobilizes.

When operators call us

The problems this solves.

  • A new pad or play where offset data is thin and the program has to hold up on the first well
  • Long laterals running into torque, drag, or hole-cleaning limits
  • A drilling program that works, but costs more per foot than it should
  • An internal team at capacity that needs a program written, reviewed, or peer-checked

Scope

What the work covers.

Well & casing design

Casing point selection, load cases, and string design against burst, collapse, and tension — with cement programs matched to each string.

Directional & wellpath

Trajectory planning, anti-collision, and BHA design that balances build rates against what the rig and tools can actually deliver.

Hydraulics & hole cleaning

ECD management, bit hydraulics, and flow-rate windows modeled against pore and fracture pressure.

Torque & drag

Friction-factor modeling for casing runs and laterals, so the limits are known before the string is in the hole.

Cost & time estimates

AFE-grade time–depth curves and cost-per-foot estimates tied to the engineering, not to last year’s average.

Regulatory & permitting support

Drilling program documentation prepared to the standard the regulator and the operator’s own review expect.

Deliverables

What you get.

Every engagement ends in documents your team can run with, review, and file — not a slide deck. Scope is agreed in writing before work starts.

Typical deliverables

  • Complete drilling program, issued for approval
  • Casing & cementing design with load-case documentation
  • Hydraulics and torque & drag models
  • Time–depth curve and cost estimate
  • Post-well review against plan
